Well Bridie Gallagher has passed onto her eternal reward.R.I.P For the younger gaels she came from Donegal but more importantly she was the lady who released the song THE BOYS FROM THE COUNTY ARMAGH .As we all know it has become one of the most famous songs EVER. Surely the City council should erect some memorial to the fine lady. The best Ambassador we in Armagh ever had .

Funny you should mention that deecee, because I was thinking lately about the late Tommy Makem. He is Keady's most famous export, and I dont believe there is anything in the town to honour him. There's a bridge named after him (and his wife, if I'm not mistaken) in the US. Surely a statue or monument would be sufficient, whether or not you liked his music or not.

Totally correct Pat there is indeed a bridge named after the late Tommy and his late wife .We Irish seem very reluctant to acknowledge the success of one of our own. Surely that is the least we can do i.e. give credit where credit is due. I read recently the there was a Tommy Mackem festival of sorts in Armagh a few months ago perhaps we should pester the Council to promote it on the international stage.
