I could not let the day pass by without mention of one of the great Gaels of our County, Pat Molloy, who passed on to his eternal reward at the week-end.
Although Pat was first an foremost a Pearse Og man, he would have travelled anywhere to take in a match. Colleges football, underage, Club Championships throughout Ulster - it didn't matter to Pat how far he had to travel if he could get to see a game. He was a great supporter of our games.
Pat was a sound fella too, and it is not just in GAA circles where he will be missed. His passing will leave a hole in Armagh City life, particularly around the Shambles.
May Pat Rest In Peace.

Nice post Rufus - for those of us fortunate enough to have counted Pat as a mate he will always be rememembered as an outstanding gael but more importantly as a really great lad full of craic and knowledge (his specialist subject would've been Car Registrations in the Armagh Area - I kid you not). I well remember the times we sat on the bookies windowsill watching the world go by and Pat abruptly butting in with "Say nothing --- beep beep beep beep " as a perfectly innocent looking unmarked car passes by ; he would soon let me know in no uncertain terms that it was a peeler car.
We would pass the time holding ono-on-one quizzes re our great gaelic sport which he would win hands down - I recall asking him one day which County Team would have occasionally played in Castletowngeoghehan - he let out a belly laugh which seemed to go on for ages before cheekily saying "Would that be Tyrone?" and then another resounding belly laugh before meekly offering "Would it by any chance be Westmeath ?"
With his flaming red hair , his portly gait and his insatiable appetite for gaelic football Pat will be remembered with fondness on the playing fields of clubs , counties and schools throughout the entire island ; His greatest love however was Pearse Og and there is now a gap almost impossible to fill within the ranks of Og supporters and it is there that his passing will be most deeply felt. Pat I will miss you and the Shambles will be much the lesser place without you.May the sod rest lightly upon you and for God's sake give St Peter an easy time when he has the nerve to question your judgment on any gaelic football issue.
