Lissummon and St. Pat's II should both be above Derrynoose.
with so much championship going on at the moment - the leagues are sort of forgotten about. Tight all over the place.
In Div 1 can't see past Cross for winning the league and the exit gates have been shut with the two evictees preparing for Div 2.
Looks like Clann Eireann and the Tones for promotion out of Division 2; T'saran and Newtown to get relegated from Div 2.
In Div 3 its between St. Peters, Grange and Middletown for promotion with Forkhill and An Port Mor leading the charge for the exit gate.
In Div Eire Og are already promoted and league winners with Lissummon, St Pats and Derrynoose in the hunt for the 2nd spot.
Its a pity that with the championship over for most teams some teams will/should be able to take advantage of other teams not playing for anything meaningful and picking up easy points. Perhaps something should be looked at where the league can be almost completed before championship starts so that all teams still have something to play for.
Of the teams mentioned previous St Pats & Forkhill are still in their championship and will obviously be flying at this stage - teams in their divisions in the their leagues will probably have stopped training or very nearly it and these teams could pick up "easy" league points which could save them from relegation or gain them promotion.
This is the system we play but is it fair?
Would it be feasible for the following:
All teams play 10 (or half) of their league games. Then the 1st round and maybe Q/F are played of the championship. Then the remainder of the league is played before the remainder of their championship is completed.
Also if a team doesn't field now the opposition gets the points. Personally if a team doesn't field then all their results should be removed and the opposition in all their matchs get the full points (if they didn't do so already).
no matter which great player we think of they all started their careers at a club - the club is the cornerstone of the GAA foundation - lets keep it that way
