Thanks for the reports, lads. The county just doesn't seem to be producing scoring forwards. Was quite disappointed that McVerry didn't see action. Is he injured or has he not been performing during the challenge games? If the latter, It's worrying that the U21 manager didn't see fit to include him. Perhaps the dearth of quality forwards in the senior ranks has created a nervous search for our 'great white hope', and has placed unjustified expectations on a lad that didn't even feature for his senior club team. In saying that, in our run to the AI final last year I thought McVerry's performances improved game-by-game and he displayed pace, power, sill and, most imporantly, accuracy.
However, the fact that Grugan, for me the most influntial player on a very talented minor side, was able to perform well last night suggests that McVerry should also have been fit for this grade. Does anyone know if he was injured or how he had played in the challenge games?
Did any of those in attendance see anyone they thought good enough to be brought onto the senior squad?
From what I hear Mcverry didn't even make the 24 man squad...he may be carrying an injury though..Poor looking ff line apart from Hanratty.
Not really on last night's showing. Although injury curtailed him last night, Clarke is a good player and worth bringing into the fold. Comiskey would probably be the only other one I'd look at - anyone know his circumstances at the minute, is he still at uni across the water?
He has bags of talent but needs a guiding hand. He has another year at U 21 I reckon and with Gareth and Tony Mac focusing on the new talent he will be a big player in the next 12 months I reckon.Quote:

Looks to be a good bit of football in him, but seems very green. Took the wrong option too often last night, too many head down and charge into the corner runs and things like that. Not like a Cross man to still look that raw at his age.
Caolan Rafferty , he played full forward last night (well lined out , he played a more corner role) Is that the same Caolan who played on the minor team last year or was a sub.. ?? Amazing McParland and Mc Verry didnt get a run. Eamonn Mc keown should have been on from the start he would have made a difference . He is big and strong and has lost a good deal of weight. Armagh needed that physicality. It was painfully obvious.
Caolan Rafferty, was he on that College MacRory team?
