Local Club: AN. Other | Ciaran McKeever is expected to be fit and ready for Armagh's first game in the National League against Meath. The Armagh captain could have played some part in Sunday's McKenna Cup defeat to Fermanagh at the Athletic Grounds, but manager Paddy O'Rourke decided against risking him as he nears his comeback from a broken ankle he sustained in last November's Inter-provincial final between Ulster and Munster in Ruislip. "Ciaran is very close. We considered giving him a while today but thought against it because I didn't want to rush him," O'Rourke said. "He has another fortnight now and we'll give him the fortnight and try and get him ready." Despite bowing out of the McKenna Cup, O'Rourke described the Fermanagh game as a "great workout". He added: "Fair play to Fermanagh, they came here and they were really up for it. It was exactly the type of game that we needed and were looking for coming close to the National League. "We probably looked a wee bit heavy-legged, but that's down to the training we're doing. We expected that to be the way in January."
